Joy for Mac OS X, the developer productivity and RAD tool by AAA+ Software, has been updated and now offers full support for the new Mac OS X Project Builder, as well as a less obtrusive registration reminder.
Joy provides a path for developers to learn Cocoa, Apple’s object oriented development environment. You can use Joy’s runtime class browser and object inspector to debug your own programs, or even to inspect Cocoa applications you don’t have the source code for, according to MacTech magazine. The built-in scripting language (syntactically compatible with Objective-C and JavaScript) can be used to send messages to any object and to teach new methods.
Developers can also call Carbon API and Java methods interactively from the Joy command window. Plus, the tool can be used with Apple’s Interface Builder to develop standalone Mac OS X applications.
Joy is available for Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server and OPENSTEP. It can be downloaded from the AAA+ Web site. Use of the software is free for evaluation purposes. A free unlock code can be ordered by e-mail, with the response being sent by AAA+’s automated servers in minutes. Regular licenses are US$69 for users who develop only small-scale applications, and $399 for unlimited use. Registered users can upgrade to Joy 2.3 for Mac OS X free of charge.
