Q: What are I/Os in Amazon Aurora and how are they calculated?
I/Os are input/output operations performed by the Aurora database engine against its SSD-based virtualized storage layer. Every database page read operation counts as one I/O. The Aurora database engine issues reads against the storage layer in order to fetch database pages not present in memory in the cache. If your query traffic can be totally served from memory or the cache, you will not be charged for retrieving any data pages from memory. If your query traffic cannot be served entirely from memory, you will be charged for any data pages that need to be retrieved from storage. Each database page is 16KB in Aurora MySQL and 8KB in Aurora PostgreSQL.
Scent Of Aurora Mac Os Catalina
Aurora was designed to eliminate unnecessary I/O operations in order to reduce costs and to ensure resources are available for serving read/write traffic. Write I/Os are only consumed when persisting redo log records in Aurora MySQL or write ahead log records in Aurora PostgreSQL to the storage layer for the purpose of making writes durable. Write I/Os are counted in 4KB units. For example, a log record that is 1024 bytes will count as one write I/O operation. However, if the log record is larger than 4KB, more than one write I/O operation will be needed to persist it. Concurrent write operations whose log records are less than 4KB may be batched together by the Aurora database engine in order to optimize I/O consumption, if they are persisted on the same storage protection groups. Unlike traditional database engines, Aurora never flushes dirty data pages to storage.
You can see how many I/O requests your Aurora instance is consuming by going to the AWS Console. To find your I/O consumption, go to the RDS section of the console, look at your list of instances, select your Aurora instances, then look for the “Billed read operations” and “Billed write operations” metrics in the monitoring section.

EeeBuntu is now the Aurora OS[edit]
the site now redirects to AuroraG. Robert Shiplett 04:41, 1 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grshiplett (talk • contribs)
- Actually, it doesn't. http://forum.eeebuntu.org/ and http://forum.auroraos.org/ both show the same content, http://eebuntu.org/ and http://www.eebuntu.org/ have no DNS record pointing to a server, http://www.auroraos.org/ returns a standard IIS under construction page (there is a server there, but no web page), and http://auroraos.org/ brings you to the Auroraos web page. Aurora OS vs Avrora OS (based now on Sailfish OS!)[edit]
The article seems to imply that Avrora and Aurora are different Systems, and hints at Avrora being based on Sailfish OS. However, in Russian 'Avrora' is actually how 'Aurora' is spelled when using latin script. This is most likely a confusion, they are the same OS. Ferk (talk) 11:31, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
eeeBuntu vs Aurora Names[edit]
I went looking to download Aurora for my eeePC and I couldn't find a download link for it. I could only find download links for eeeBuntu. I'm assuming this means the version where they changed the name to Aurora isn't out yet (or at least the stable release isn't). The article led me to believe that the name of the distro was recently changed to Aurora when the last stable release came out (eeeBuntu 3.0 I believe). Perhaps some clarification is needed? Outdated Information[edit]
Scent Of Aurora Mac Os X
Some of the information in this article appears to be outdated. For example, it says 'newer versions will be based on Debian' with a link to a Oct 17, 2009 post on eeebuntu.org, but a newer version was released as a beta on Feb 12, 2010. Also notable is from the standpoint of tracking progress on the project is a Jun 13, 2010 post announcing a 'full rebranding, new sites, new servers and release of this projects new name' and a Jan 04, 2011 post (http://forum.auroraos.org/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=6168&sid=528ecf9159eedf4c8f199a77d9217703) announcing more progress.
Given the history of this project (not abandoned, ongoing progress with long gaps, a series of optimistic announcements of developments that didn't happen when projected), I propose that the article be rewritten to only include things that have actually happened, and that no announcements by the developers regarding future developments be included until they actually happen.
Also, it appears that every link to eeebuntu.org works fine if you substitute auroraos.org in the URL, so I suggest that we standardize on the new domain name. Guy Macon 19:20, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
